Player movements: Smith, Grimaldi

South Sydney's impressive 2007 recruitment drive continued today with the signature of Parramatta halfback Jeremy Smith. A former junior Kiwi, Smith has agreed to a two-year deal with the Rabbitohs, where he will be joined by fellow Eel Dean Widders and interim Parramatta coach Jason Taylor.

Smith will give coach Shaun McRae extra depth in the halves where he will compete with the likes of Joe Williams for the Rabbitohs No.7 jumper. He makes his return from a five-game ban for pushing referee Sean Hampstead in Parramatta's clash against the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland on Saturday night.

Elsewhere, Bulldogs utility Tony Grimaldi has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the NRL club. Grimaldi, a veteran of 116 matches for the Bulldogs, will come up against his former team St George Illawarra in tomorrow's blockbuster clash at Oki Jubilee Oval.
