Player movements: Walker

Competition leaders Melbourne have released former State of Origin player Chris Walker from the remainder of his contract for 2006 for personal and family reasons.

Walker has played just seven matches, for two tries, since joining the Storm in 2006 after previous stints at the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney. Storm boss Brian Waldron says the decision for Walker to be released from his contract was made after discussions involving the player, club and his management.

In a statement Walker says once he has addressed his personal and family issues he would like to return to top level football
