Preston heads West

Preston Campbell will be heading west next year to link up with his former coach, John Lang at the Panthers after rejecting an offer from Manly after learning his contract would not be enough to enable him to buy a property in the affluent Northern Beaches, whereas Penrith is much more affordable and gives him the opportunity to stake his claim for the halfback role in competiton with Craig Gower, who has been rumored to be keen to exercise his get out clause and join either the Bulldogs or the Roosters.

Campbells imminent move west gives the club a long term solution to one of it's major areas of concern, as Gower and Girdler are both very injury prone. Preston Campbell and Ben Ross should see the Panthers move away from the wrong end of the table and start building a formidable side for next year and beyond.
