Preview: Salford v Leeds (Round 10)

Salford Reds, the surprise package of Super League XI, can climb to second place if they break their duck against Leeds Rhinos at The Willows.

The Rhinos inflicted one of just two defeats on Karl Harrison?s men this season and they remain the only team the Reds have yet to defeat in the 10 years of Super League.

Unbeaten at The Willows since last July, Salford are level on points with Leeds following the Rhinos? first home defeat of the season at the hands of Bradford and a fourth successive win will see them become the nearest challengers to St Helens.

?If we can keep winning we will be there or thereabouts but the table looks after itself,? said the Leeds-born Harrison.

?I?ve never, even as a player, been a looker at the league ladder and I?m not going to start now.?

Former Salford favourite Nathan McAvoy, who scored 78 tries in 144 appearances for the Reds, is in line to make his Super League debut for Leeds in place of centre Chev Walker, who is out with a knee injury.

The Rhinos are also poised to give a debut to prop Mark O?Neill, who joined them from Wests Tigers in the winter but picked up a shoulder injury in the club?s Boxing Day friendly.
