IPSWICH JETS v SUNSHINE COAST
North Ipswich Reserve, Saturday 3pm
Referee: Tim Rutherford
Head to Head: Sunshine Coast 3 Ipswich 2 Drawn 1
The Sunshine Coast will have to defy their recent away record if they are to upset the Ipswich Jets at home this weekend. The Sea Eagles have lost their past 13 games on the road, so they cannot be heading to North Ipswich Reserve brimming with confidence. However, the last time these two sides met, the Sea Eagles recorded a memorable victory over the Jets against all odds in round 14 last year. The Jets however are coming off a last-start victory against the Burleigh Bears, and although it was a scrappy affair, their defence was strong enough to outweigh their uneven attack. Ipswich have again named a full-strength side, with forward Lorenzo Maafu having to wait an extra week to get back on to the field after serving his suspension. For the Sunshine Coast, former Caloundra Sharks pivot Justin Otto is set to make his Intrust Super Cup debut after being named on the bench for the Saturday game. Normally starting from the bench, Kane Richards has forced his way into the starting side at hooker, with coach Dave Cordwell shifting Brenton Stonier into the number 13 position replacing Peter Gallen who has been moved back to the FOGS Cup this week.
The mystery punter says: Sunshine Coast by 2. Most punters will expect the Ipswich Jets to win, but the Sea Eagles have shown they are not to be taken lightly, and with that extra game under their belts, they will be a handful.
