IPSWICH 52 d SOUTHS LOGAN 4

AS THE rain poured from the heavens, the Ipswich Jets broke a long-standing drought, securing their first ever Spotless Club Championship with a 52-4 win over the Souths Logan Magpies.

Wizard Cup wooden spooners only last season, the Jets completed a remarkable turnaround by proving to be the strongest club across all grades in 2007, finishing on 266 points, overtaking Tweed Heads (253) on the final day of the season.

Points in the Club Championship are awarded on the basis of 10 points for a win in Wizard Cup, six for a win in FOGS Cup and four for victory in Colts.

Ipswich claimed fourth spot in the Wizard Cup, second in FOGS Cup and seventh in Colts.

Helping their top team to a strong win against the Magpies was super-impressive half Josh Lewis, relegated from the Gold Coast Titans.

Lewis nabbed two tries and was a constant thorn in Souths Logan
