QRL meet to establish 2011 competition format

THE competing clubs from the 2010 Intrust Super Cup season have provided written submissions to the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) for entry into next year's competition.

With all 12 clubs having submitted documentation within the required time frame outlining their intent to compete in the 2011 Intrust Super Cup, the clubs and the QRL today discussed the guidelines and competition conditions for the upcoming season.

Club representatives attended a workshop and later met with QRL Chairman John McDonald and Competitions and Operations Manager Billy Hunter.

A draft draw has been circulated for discussion but the make up of the 2011 competition will not be finalised until the receipt of satisfactory audited financial statements and the completion of club health checks.

Today's meeting also addressed a revised format for the Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup competitions.

This included the implementation of a compulsory Education Program, tackling key areas including mental wellbeing (depression, anxiety, stress, risk taking, violence), illicit drugs, alcohol and gambling.
