Rookie Scott Prince has been selected at halfback for Queensland after a couple of rousing performances for the Tigers in recent weeks. Following injuries to key personnel, the Cane Toads were looking a little thin in the halves department, but fortunately Prince has stepped up in recent weeks to be given his first chance at the elite level, despite being earmarked several years ago.
Most of the rest of the team is as you would expect, but there must be an injury cloud over five-eighth and captain Darren Lockyer. As a result of that, Matt Bowen has been carried on the bench.
Rhys Wesser has won the contentious fullback role in the Queensland State of Origin Team just announced.
Billy Slater has been selected on the wing with Justin Hodges, who's a little more accustomed to the centres these days. Cowboys stalwart Paul Bowman has come into the frame as well, picking up a three-quarter position.
The full team to play the opening game of the three-match series against NSW at Telstra Stadium on May 26:
Rhys Wesser Justin Hodges Paul Bowman Brent Tate Billy Slater Darren Lockyer ? Scott Prince Shane Webcke Cameron Smith Steven Price Michael Crocker Dane Carlaw Tonie Carroll Interchange: Ben Ross, Petero Civoniceva, Travis Norton, Chris Flannery and Matt Bowen (one to be omitted).
