Raiders helping to Close the Gap

The Canberra Raiders Indigenous All-Stars have rallied behind the Close the Gap Round this weekend, to highlight the social issues that lead to a tragic gap in life expectancy between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the rest of Australia's population.

Joel Thompson, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Travis Waddell and Blake Ferguson have all represented the Indigenous All-Star side since its inception in 2010 and believe the need to Close the Gap is an important issue in today's society.

Thompson joined fellow Raider Josh McCrone at Raiders HQ yesterday to help display the initiative and help spread the Close the Gap message.

A proud indigenous Australian Thompson said the need to raise awareness on issues involving indigenous Australians was something he strongly advocated and said the more the NRL focuses on issues like Close the Gap the better it would be for indigenous Australians.
