RFL and Super League clubs consider OS players

The RFL and the 12 engage Super League clubs are working on radical new proposals to limit the number of overseas players in the engage Super League and to actively promote the production of young Great Britain-qualified players.

At a meeting on Wednesday, the clubs received proposals that would gradually reduce the number of overseas players over the next three years while requiring each club to produce a minimum of 20 per cent of its first-team squad from within its own Academy.

The new regulations would extend the provision of the existing overseas quota to include 'Kolpak' players and EU passport holders. They are based upon similar provisions in UEFA
