RLPA satisfied with Suncorp

The cloud over the third State of Origin game has lifted with the Rugby League Players Association received assurances from Suncorp Stadium management that the ground is safe.

However, RLPA president Tony Butterfield says the association will continue to monitor Suncorp's sandy surface in the lead-up to Origin Three and beyond. Butterfield has confirmed he's received a written response from management of the controversial ground, via Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr, assuring him of its safety.

It's understood the Queensland and NSW players were prepared to refuse to play at Suncorp unless the assurances were received.
