Roosters charge through Panthers
The Sydney Roosters have charged home in the second half with a dominant performance to defeat the Penrith Panthers, 30-6 at Allianz Stadium in front of 11,176 fans.
It was a close first half of football with the Panthers going toe-to-toe with the boys from Bondi, but trailed 10-6 at the break.
Jake Friend put the Roosters on the front foot early with a simple barge over try next to the posts inside the first four points.
The Panthers replied not long later as the video referee awarded Matt Moylan his second first grade try as he cleaned up a grubber kick in goal.
The powerful Sonny Bill Williams charged through three Penrith defenders late in the first half to bring up the Roosters second four-pointer.
At the break the Roosters leaders 10-6.
The second half was all the Roosters despite the Panthers best efforts in attack. Michael Jennings claimed a double mid-second half, the first off a cut out pass from Maloney and his second posted as he cleaned up a bouncing ball from a grubber kick. Great display of skill in the second half from the Roosters centre.
The final points of the contest came through NSW Blues halfback, Mitchell Pearce. Man of the match Jared Waerea-Hargreaves provided the short pass for Pearce to hit and spin under the uprights.
The Bondi boys ran away victors over the traveling Penrith Panthers, 30-6. Next week the Roosters travel across the bridge to clash with Manly, while the Penrith Panthers return to Centrebet Stadium to host the bruised Melbourne Storm.
