Roosters part ways with Stuart

Australian rugby league coach Ricky Stuart has lost his job as head coach of the Sydney Roosters, the club announced this afternoon.

Stuart has been under growing pressure to retain his position with the Roosters winning just eight of 23 games this season. His last match in charge of the Roosters will be this weekend's final round game against the St George Illawarra Dragons at the SCG on Saturday night.

Speculation grew over the weekend that Stuart would be replaced as head coach from next season with no less than four candidates mentioned as possible replacements.

Current assistant coach Brad Fittler is in the mix with former mentor Phil Gould potentially coming back as a director of coaching. Adrian Lamb (Sharks assistant), John Lang (outgoing Penrith coach) and Daniel Anderson (former Warriors and current St Helens coach) are also listed as potential replacements.
