The Sydney Roosters have recorded their fourth win in succession with a comfortable 34-6 win over an injury ravaged Melbourne Storm at Aussie Stadium today.
The Roosters went to the break only up 14-6 but kicked on well in the second half to run out easy winners in front of a very disappointing crowd.
Melbourne were without stars Robbie Kearns and Scott Hill and also welcomed back fullback Robbie Ross, who played just his 15th game in two seasons. The Storm made plenty of errors in the first half and could have easily been leading but poor decisions and dropped balls by Fifita Moal and Marcus Bai let the Roosters off the hook when the killer blow was required.
The unconvincing Roosters climb further up the ladder but still are not int he elite class of teams with every team above eaily a 20 point better side at the moment.
As for the Storm, they have slumped to their fourth successive loss and now find themselves teetering on the edge of the top eight and if they drop too many more in succession, will finds themselves well out of contention.
Scorers: Sydney Roosters 34 (Tries: Mullins, Phillips, Minichiello, Lomu, Fitler. Goals: Holbrook 1/2, Crocker 5/6, Phillips 1/2) defeat Melbourne Storm 6 (Tries: Langi. Goals: Swain 1/1 ) Half time score: Roosters 14 - Storm 6
