Round 12 Team of the Week

Round 12 was definitely an interesting one and it?s thrown up a Team of the Week brimming with talent, skill, strength, experience and good old-fashioned grunt up front in the engine room. With a slick backline, brilliant halves, monster pack and versatile bench, the Round 12 League Unlimited Team of the Week will grab you by the scruff of the neck, drag you from the park Tallis v Hodgo style and throw your sorry arse over the touch line before you even know what hit you. And that?s just in the warm-up!

Fullback ? M Bowen (Cowboys) Can this guy get any better? Probably is the answer to that and he?ll keep getting the no.1 jersey here. Easily the form player of the comp and we love giving him the call every Monday morning to let him know he?s in the team. Bagged a try and caused general mayhem all night long for Canterbury.

Wing ? B Slater (Storm) Put on a great display against the Dragons in Melbourne but we?ve had to slot him on the wing for this round. Possesses electrifying speed and a step to match.

Centre ? S Berrigan (Broncos) Scored a treble for the Bronco?s who look menacing once again. He?s nimble in attack and solid in defence and just keeps putting in each week.

Centre ? C Toopi (Warriors) Won the game for New Zealand with a two-try display that broke the hearts of Wests Tigers fans everywhere. In a tough contest he stood out above the pack.

Wing ? E Grothe (Eels) Grabbed a double for the Eels and helped them on their giant-killing ways, toppling the Sharks at home in a huge boilover. Let?s hope they can keep up their winning ways.

Five-eighth ? J Thurston (Cowboys) Here?s another bloke who simply gets better every week. He must be eating as many Weetbix as Bowen cause he?s take his game to another level. Scored a great individual try and set plenty up whilst also finding the time to boot 4 goals and looks a lot more solid defensively this year.

Halfback ? S Jones (Warriors) Lead the team around the park like a pro in difficult conditions. His kick for Villa the Gorilla at the death was brilliant whilst he also chipped in with a conversion and field goal.

Lock ? B Kennedy (Sea Eagles) Backing up from a torrid Origin match, BK put his hand up once more and lead the troops into action at Fortress Brookvale. Barged his way through the Panthers defence following the inspirational words of teammate Tezza.

Second-row ? N Hindmarsh (Eels) Like BK, this bloke just can?t be stopped. A few days after putting it all on the table for NSW, here he is again slogging it out in the blue and gold. Someone get the hypobaric chamber!

Second row ? A Watmough (Sea Eagles) Another Blue that backed up well and continues to impress the astute LU judges. Pitched in with a try and continued his solid work rate in and around the rucks.

Prop ? A Morley (Roosters) Bashed Canberra off the park with countless damaging runs and pain inducing tackles. An old head that can?t be put down easily in attack and doesn?t give an inch in defence.

Hooker ? A Payne (Cowboys) A surprise inclusion this week with Payne?s stellar effort for the Cowboys raising the curiosity of our live updater, although both his front row partners were unlucky to miss out. Scored a clever and opportunistic try.

Prop ? R Kearns (Storm) Another old head who doesn?t take a backward step and would relish the heavy impact with fellow bargepole Morley. He played smart footy at the weekend and gave the young Dragons forwards a bit of a lesson in life.

Plenty of versatility on the bench here, with Sutton and chalk able to cover plenty of positions in the backline, whilst Beaver and Fitzy will come on to do the ugly work in the middle of the park. Fitzy might even knock a few over for good measure.

Interchange: J Sutton (Rabbitohs), M Chalk (Raiders), S Menzies (Sea Eagles), C Fitzgibbon (Roosters).
