Australian referee Sean Hampstead has been appointed to take charge of next Friday?s Carnegie World Club Challenge between the Bulldogs and Leeds Rhinos at Elland Road, Leeds.
Hampstead, a veteran of nearly 200 first grade matches, two Tests and two State of Origin games is very enthusiastic as well as honoured with the news of his selection.
?I?m going to have to make a quick adjustment to the conditions over there but this appointment is a great honour and I?m looking forward to the experience,? Hampstead was quoted today.
?Refereeing the two best club sides in the world is going to be quite a challenge so I expect that will benefit me with what I do every week in the Telstra Premiership.?
Referees for the World Club Challenge will now be appointed on a rotational basis between Australia and England, regardless of where the match is played.
