OUT of form halfback Brett Seymour was today dropped from the Ergon Energy Broncos? side in one of the three team changes for Friday night?s clash against the Sydney Roosters at Aussie Stadium.

Dual-registered Redcliffe no.7 Shane Perry returns to the side for Seymour, utility Casey McGuire will replace Michael Ennis (knee) at hooker, while Test back Brent Tate is set to return from ankle surgery.

Tate is likely to be eased into his 2006 debut after being named on the bench alongside prop Ben Hannant, second-rower David Stagg and utility forward Sam Thaiday.

Young five-eighth/lock Greg Eastwood is 18th man.

Second-rower Brad Thorn, who missed Saturday?s 30-12 win over South Sydney, is still being troubled by a knee problem and is likely to return for next Sunday?s home clash against Penrith.

Seymour will play for Queensland Cup feeder team Toowoomba against Easts at Langlands Park on Saturday after failing to impress coach Wayne Bennett in four of the five matches this season.

Seymour, who did not train with the NRL squad today, has been struggling with confidence since an off-season shoulder reconstruction and only shone in the round three win over Parramatta when he eased the playmaking pressure on captain Darren Lockyer.

Experienced playmaker Perry will play his second career match for the Broncos after starting at halfback against North Queensland in round 1 when he was replaced in the second half by Seymour.

Before joining the Broncos, 28-year-old Perry played 14 NRL games from 1999-2001, eight with Western Suburbs and six with Canterbury.

McGuire could share the hooker role with regular centre and capable no.9 Shaun Berrigan who did dummy-half work at training today.

Tate trained strongly in Berrigan?s centre role yesterday and today after undergoing two pre-season operations on the problematic right ankle he first injured in round 14 last year.

The Broncos are likely to be told today they will be without their top two hookers for the rest of the season when Ennis receives the results of this morning?s scans.

After Barry Berrigan retired last month because of neck problems, Ennis is expected to undergo a full knee reconstruction after seemingly rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against the Rabbitohs.
