Shaun McRae will be unveiled as the new coach of NRL side Souths on Monday, according to reports.
The Hull boss, in Australia because of a family illness, has been linked with the job for several weeks.
His appointment is set to be confirmed in the next 72 hours, although Super League's longest-serving coach will see out the season with Hull.
McRae's assistant, John Kear, is the favourite to replace him at the Kingston Communications Stadium.
