Sonny Bill stays at Belmore

Sonny Bill Williams has today re-signed with the Canterbury Bulldogs until the end of the 2007 season.

It's a huge boost ahead of Friday night's crunch game with the Sydney Roosters after months of speculation regarding his future. Williams has also been sidelined recently with an ankle injury and a case of the mumps.

But the 19-year-old wonder-kid signed on today with the club saying, "I have always insisted I wanted to stay at Canterbury, it was just a matter of time".

CEO Malcolm Noad went on record with the following comments:

"It's taken a long time but anything worthwhile doesn't come easily. It's a tremendous thrill for the club that Sonny Bill has agreed to stay. Sonny Bill is the third of our players off contract that we have signed to extended contracts. Now we have got to balance the budget going forward, at least now we know what the budget is."
