Swag of new Maroons likely

Four new players are expected to be named in Queensland's side today for the second state of Origin match in Sydney on Wednesday week.

Maroons selectors will announce the team in Brisbane at 2pm (AEST) today.

Two new backs are needed with centres Justin Hodges and Paul Bowman out with long-term knee injuries while utility Chris Flannery is sidelined with a shoulder injury and hooker PJ Marsh could miss the game with a neck problem.

Roosters utility Michael Crocker could come into the side at hooker, while Newcastle's Robbie O'Davis is likely to be included with Melbourne rookie Billy Slater a possible selection bolter.
