Tallis pleads guilty

Queensland captain Gorden Tallis has pleaded guilty to a high tackle on Brisbane team-mate Michael Devere during the opening State of Origin game.

But Tallis will be free to play for the Broncos this weekend.

Tallis hit DeVere in the 34th minute of the match, won 25-12 by New South Wales at Suncorp Stadium, showing little mercy for his National Rugby League team-mate. The Brisbane second rower was charged by a judicial committee and accepted the guilty plea.

He earns 56 penalty points, meaning he is free to play for the Broncos against Canberra at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.
