Tate out with knee reconstruction

Brisbane winger Brent Tate has been ruled out for the rest of the NRL season and faces a full knee reconstruction.

Tate tore both his anterior cruciate ligament and medial ligament in his left knee during Queensland's 18-4 State of Origin III loss to NSW at Suncorp Stadium last night.

The Australian winger will be sorely missed by his club, as the Broncos were just starting to look dangerous after they defeated Penrith last week minus all their Origin stars.

Tate will head to New Zealand next year to play with the Warriors alongside brother-in-law Steve Price. Fans across the Tasman will be hoping he makes a full recovery, as Tate is a player who has been plagued by injury over the years.
