Thurston ruled out for 6-8 weeks

The injury to North Queensland Toyota Cowboys halfback Johnathan Thurston's right ankle has been confirmed today as a medial ligament tear, which will see Thurston rested for 6-8 weeks.

While the Cowboys captain will miss the rest of the club's NRL season, Thurston's orthopaedic surgeon will take the opportunity to perform surgery tonight to remove Neuroma (nerves) from both feet.

Thurston has suffered from foot pain for a number of weeks and is expected to make a quick recovery from the procedure.
