Tigers face an uphill task while
Miners hoping for a shock

Torfaen Tigers will have to rip up the form book over the next two weekends if they are to have any chance of making the Welsh Grand Final. The Tigers could still mathematically finish in third place and reach the 2nd/3rd place play-off, the winners of which will face the leagues top team. But to do so they will have to beat both Aberavon Fighting Irish and Bridgend Blue Bulls over the next two weekends.

Tigers coach Kevin Weaver said ?its going to be a tough couple of weeks, Aberavon and Bridgend are streets ahead of the rest of us and its going to be hard to catch up. But we will continue as we have done all summer and blood new players, we have seen some great youngsters come through are club this season in Dan Robinson, Jessie Farthing and Rob Nash and whatever happens over the next two weeks the squad has done me proud?.

The Swansea Valley Miners hope to take advantage this weekend of the fact that the Bridgend Blue Bulls have eight players on international duty with Grant Epton, Carle Ellis and Jon Purnell all being added to the side that hammered Scotland last month.

The Bulls give a first start to 18-year old Nick Roberts who shone after coming of the bench v Valley Cougars two weeks ago and Dan Williams returns after missing the entire season so far through injury. Maestegs RFCs Ross Megraw and Stuart Morris of Bridgend Athletic will also make their Bulls debuts. A win over the Miners will guarantee the Bulls top spot in the League Table and automatically put them in the Welsh Final.

Meanwhile Sunday sees a local derby between Valley Cougars and Cardiff Demons at Sardis Road. The Cougars could also get third spot and will start as favourites having already beaten the Demons once this season. Cougars coach Mark Rowley said ?I have been glad the way the season has gone so far and I hope to do the double over Cardiff?. But the Demons also have plenty to play for and will want to avoid bottom spot and cement their place in the Welsh Shield Semi Finals, a competition they won last season.
