Tigers survive SFS thriller

Wests Tigers have won their fourth consecutive game and brought themselves to the edge of the top eight with an exciting 19-18 triumph over Manly at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Up 18-0 at half-time and 19-6 around halfway through the second period, it looked like the Tigers would cruise to victory against a not-quite-up-to-it Manly outfit. But Manly rallied thrillingly in the last fifteen minutes, making Tigers fans sweat it out if they wanted to see their team take the crucial two competition points.

Anthony Watmough, who put in what surely must have been one of the best performances by any individual in any game this season, crashed over in the 66th minute after another barnstorming run up the middle of the field to cut the deficit to nine. Matt Orford
