In their third match of the Federation Shield played in Castres on Sunday, France went down to Tonga 10-48. Down 22-6 at half time, the French could not catch up the defecit.

This defeat also means that France miss the Federation Shield final, since the winner of today's match advances to second place on two wins. So at Widnes next week Tonga will face England, who today scored seven tries (Including three by Ryan Atkins) to defeat Samoa 38-14.
