Topsy turvy Tigers defeat rocky Roosters

THE Wests Tigers have comeback from a half time deficit to defeat the Sydney Roosters 19-12 in front of a 10,178 crowd at Leichhardt.

After a scrappy start from both sides, the Tigers drew were the first to get on the scoreboard when Benji Marshall kicked a penalty goal in the in the 16th minute.

The Tigers continued to dominate posession on the back of Roosters' penalties and errors and Beau Ryan was over for a try only seven minutes later. Marshall added the extras to extend the homeside's lead to eight.

It was all the Tigers in the next passage of play as the Roosters continued to cough up the ball.

However the Roosters took control of the match in the final ten minutes off the half, some good field position on the back off a penalty saw BJ Leilua score in the corner in the 31st.

Another penalty to the Roosters in the 34th minute placed the Roosters in prime position again and Aidan Guerra muscled his way over the line. Todd Carney added the extras to extend his side's lead to four.

The Roosters were over again through Jake Friend only fives minutes later but were denied the try after Friend was ruled to be offside by video referee Russell Smith.
The homeside were able capitalise on their opponents drop-a-thon in the 47th through Liam Fulton. Marshall added the extras to give the homeside a two-point lead.

The Tigers were over again five minutes later courtesy of some soft Roosters' defense and a clever pass from halfback Robert Lui which put Blake Ayshford over. Marshall missed the conversion on this occasion to keep the lead to six.

Brian Smith's side were given several opportunities to hit back in the final half hour of the match but struggled to complete their sets.

The scoreboard attendant was finally put to work again in the 75th minute but it was the Tigers extending their lead after Marshall kicked a field goal for the home side.

The Roosters continued to bomb their chances in the dying minutes of the match and the Tigers were able to get away with an unconvincing win.
