Turner faces tough choice

Melbourne hasn't ruled out taking legal action against the NRL after the sport's governing body refused to register a three-year contract with in-form winger Steve Turner.

Turner, who's been at the centre of a bitter tug-of-war between Gold Coast and Melbourne, will be forced to play for the Titans unless he decides to sit out the next three seasons. Titans boss Michael Searle says the fledgling club won't be releasing the 21-year-old Turner from his agreement under any circumstances.

Melbourne chief executive Brian Waldron says the competition leader will revisit the issue when they finish playing this year. Turner says it'll be difficult working with the Gold Coast's players and coaching staff if he's forced to play for the Titans. Searle has warned Frank Puletua will also be made to honour his commitment with the Titans despite indicating he wanted to stick with current club Penrith.
