Turner tug-of-war to continue

The tug-of-war over Melbourne Storm winger Steve Turner looks set to continue with Storm chief executive Brian Waldron denying reports a player swap deal has been struck with the Gold Coast Titans.

Despite the reported agreement after a meeting with Titans managing director Michael Searle yesterday, Waldron says the Storm won't be giving the Titans any players as a compromise for Turner staying with the Storm. Turner agreed to join the Gold Coast earlier this year but had a change of heart and now wants to stay with Melbourne.

Waldron says the Storm don't owe the Titans any compensation for the backflip because he never signed a contract. But the Titans believe they still have a three-year agreement and gave the winger his first pay cheque this week, minus fines for missing training.
