Wakefield Hold Out Halifax

Wakefield and former Featherstone stand-off, Jamie Rooney, combined superbly with veteran half-back Brad Davis and Richard Newlove to lay on all three of their side's tries and also kicked five goals from six attempts to get his side up to a 22 - 18 win over bottom placed Halifax.

The 2 halves guided Wakefield to consecutive wins, the first for 2 years and also improving the clubs position on the table to 9th.

It was their first home win of the season and witnessed by just 2,806 spectators, the lowest attendance of Super League VIII to date.

The Wildcats never had it all their own way, Halifax, desparate to avoid relegation fought back bravely but Wakefield were too strong in the end. Halifax were down on numbers through injuries.
