Chev Walker could play for Leeds against Castleford on Boxing Day. Walker is serving an 18-month sentence in a young offender's institute following a brawl but will be released this week, possibly as early as Monday.
Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington told Rugby Leaguer & League Express: "The lads have been visiting him on a rota basis.
"He has obviously been setting his sights on Boxing Day - he has been really looking forward to it."
Walker will return to training with the Rhinos next week.
Walker's team-mate Ryan Bailey, who was also convicted over the incident, was released in October.
Rochdale's Paul Owen is still serving a prison sentence for his involvement, while Leeds Academy player Dwayne Barker has completed his community service.
