New Zealand A are still looking for a win on their five-match British tour. Despite a spirited fightback NZ posted a 28-26 defeat to Warrington Wolves.

New Zealand A, who face Great Britain at Headingley on Wednesday, went ahead in the fourth minute when centre Vila Apu'ula followed up on to a Steve Buckingham kick to touch down.

But Warrington, despite handing 12 players their senior debuts, turned on the style to score tries from Mike Govin, Steve Warburton, Nick Owen and Tommy Grundy in the first half with Owen adding three conversions.

New Zealand A staged a fightback early in the second half when Lance Poka went over but Warrington made it 28-10 with a fifth try by Jamie Durbin, converted by Owen.

The Kiwis lost skipper Shane Beyers with a shoulder injury but gave Warrington a fright with sub Jonny Limmer going over on the 60 minute mark with Buckingham landing his second goal.

Winger Paul Fisiiahi crossed for two late tries for the Kiwis but Warrington held on with stand-off Gary Hulse landing the man-of-the-match award in front of 3,409 fans.
