Welcome to the club, Mr Prince

Being Leagueies, we love being part of a club. We all join club?s for different reasons. On Sunday I signed up at Wests Ashfield just so I could get in the door.

But there are other types of clubs, the types you?re elected to. There?s a few of those in League. The Immortals club is for those who are considered to be the elite specimens to have graced our game. The 300 Club is for those who?ve played at least 300 first grade games.

On Sunday night Scott Prince became the 20th member of the Clive Churchill club by being the Best on Ground in the 2005 NRL Grand Final. It includes the finest list of halfbacks to have ever played our game.

Peter Sterling, Ricky Stuart, Allan Langer, Brett Kimmorley and Andrew Johns have all received the Clive Churchill Medal. And now, Scott Prince has too.

It is one of the greatest honours to have bestowed upon you and sometimes there is not a clear favourite until late in the game. Last Sunday this was the case. With twenty minutes left on the clock, there was plenty of time for a player to step up and claim the award.

Prince did it in style, setting himself apart from all the others on the paddock. He is a worthy winner and added to his delight by being named in the Australian squad to play New Zealand and Great Brittain.

So, as the doorman unhinges the rope to streamline your passage down the stairs, a model on either arm, motioning nonchalantly at various film stars and other personalities, be sure to pick up the drink waiting for you at the bar before you make your way to the VIP section of the establishment and settle in for the private viewing of Aerosmith.

Oh, and Mr Prince, here?s the key to the executive washroom.
