Welsh Dragon leading Buffaloes charge

Whilst the Celtic Crusaders will have Welsh fans rooting for them on Sunday at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington, as the club has teams in both Cooperative NL One and Cooperative RLC National Grand Finals, it could be that their hopes of a Welsh double are undermined by a Welshman. Bramley Buffaloes have two players who have represented Wales at Student RL level. One of them Danny Johnson, is a local Leeds lad who qualified for Wales on the family rule. But Prop Gareth Thirsk is arguably one of the most Welsh of RL players at any level, born in Caernarvon, and a fluent Welsh speaker, having been educated and brought up in a Welsh speaking school.
