Wiki Joins The 200 Club

Canberra Raiders warhorse Ruben Wiki will join a select band of Kiwis tomorrow by toting up 200 National Rugby League (NRL) appearances.

The milestone will come when the competition leaders visit reigning premiers the Sydney Roosters.

Wiki, who captained New Zealand in a test for the first time when the Kiwis lost 6-48 to Australia in Sydney's Aussie Stadium last Friday, will be hoping for a better outcome when he returns to the venue.

The former centre turned second rower and now prop will become just the fourth New Zealander to register his NRL double century, following Dane Sorensen, Daryl Halligan and Stephen Kearney.

Wiki, who has scored 58 career tries, made his debut for the Raiders in 1993 and has stuck with the club throughout although he was poised to move to the Auckland Warriors when they formed in 1995.

The Aucklander has also played 38 test matches, leaving him third on the all-time Kiwis list behind Gary Freeman (46) and Kearney, who earned his 44th cap last Friday.

Wiki, named club player of the year in 2002, will become the seventh Canberra player to reach the milestone.

The others are Jason Croker, Laurie Daley, Steve Walters, Chris O'Sullivan, Ricky Stuart and David Furner.
