Wolves triumph
over Broncos

Official English Super League Round 21 Report - Sunday game. Full time: Warrington 26 London 14.

Warrington Wolves regained third spot in the engage Super League after ending London's seven league match winning run with a 26-14 victory.

The Wolves were without injured skipper Lee Briers and Toa Kohe-Love but had not lost a home match for four months.

It was the visitors, though, who edged ahead after four minutes with Paul Sykes landing a penalty to continue his record of being the only Super League player to have scored in every match this season.

The Wolves, looking to make amends for their opening day defeat at London, took the lead on 12 minutes with Martin Gleeson pouncing on his own through kick, but Chris Bridge failed to land the touch-line conversion.

Both sides then spurned chances to score, with Bridge opting to kick when Warrington had an overlap before Nick Bradley-Qalilawa failed to hold Tyrone Smith's pass for the visitors.

Sykes pulled off a try-saving tackle on opposite number Brent Grose but he could not stop Dean Gaskell crossing for his first try of the season, as the home side opened up an 8-2 lead on 35 minutes.

London grabbed a try deep inside first-half injury time through Bradley-Qalilawa - his 17th of the season - but Sykes missed the conversion as his side trailed 8-6 at the interval.

The Broncos were reduced to 12 men early in the second half when Sykes was sin-binned for holding down Graham Appo.

But 12-man London drew level with Rob Purdham landing a 40-metre penalty on 52 minutes, before Henry Fa'afili crossed for his 17th try of the campaign, as the Wolves led 14-8.

Grose extended Warrington's lead to 20-8 to put his side into a commanding lead, which they held until 10 minutes to go.

The Broncos capitalised on the sin-binning of Jon Clarke when Lee Hopkins burrowed his way over to close the gap to 20-14 and set up a tense finale.

But, with seconds remaining, Fa'afili grabbed his second touch-down to secure the points.
