IT was big highs and lows for the Flegg boys this week as they took on the Penrith Panthers. A great performance in the first began with captain Brad McLean barging over to score. The Bears gathered momentum by putting the pressure on and forcing many penalties in their favour. Great hits by Pio Rokomaqisa and Arnold Mano allowed Danny Chiha and Tim Woodbine to combine to get the ball out to Ryan Wilson to score in the corner. The half time score 10-4 to the Bears.

THE Western Suburbs Magpies have agreed to swap venues for the upcoming Newtown-Wests VB Premier League game that was originally set down for Campbelltown Stadium. Thanks to the cooperation of our fellow 1908 Foundation Club, Wests have agreed to move this game to Henson Park. It also provides the many Wests fans still living in their original district area to come and see an old-style local derby between the two clubs at historic Henson Park.

The Cumbrian side, which currently operates on a shareholder system, has fielded an offer from business park developer Tony Ansell. His plan is to buy a majority share in the club, and then raise 3-4 million pounds from investors in order to bring Whitehaven?s home Recreation Field up to Superleague standards.
