FULL TIME - South Sydney have somehow managed a 20-16 win in a scrappy contest with Canterbury. Thanks for joining me! Full wrap to come!
Raymond Faitala-Mariner grubbers on the fourth but Alex Johnston cleans it up and Souths will win!
Bulldogs have one set and begin on their own 20.
Dane Gagai takes the short restart and the Rabbitohs are already past halfway on the third. Adam Doueihi drills it over the sideline 15 out.
No mistake.
Souths march up field and John Sutton takes on the line before sending Cameron Murray through a hole to score!
I have a terrible sense of what is left and what is right! Doueihi actually sent it to the left of the posts.
Doueihi sends it right!
Alex Johnston makes a massive break and now Sam Burgess takes it past the 30 on the 2nd. John Sutton barges through several defenders and is taken 10 out. Adam Doueihi grubbers early and Hunt scores!
Francis Tualau drops the ball... terrible work by the Dogs. If they lose they only have themselves to blame now.
The Bulldogs spread it left on the last with Raymond Faitala-Mariner linking with Josh Morris but the pass from Morris to his brother is knocked down by Dane Gagai. Canterbury earn another set. Will they take the point?
Offside off the scrum sees the Dogs nab a differential penalty, meaning they can't kick the goal. David Klemmer drops it off the hit-up and Souths quickly spread it left but Braidon Burns is shoved over the sideline by Marcelo Montoya. Dumb play by the Rabbitohs. Bulldogs ball 40 out.
A late flop by Mark Nicholls is penalised and the Dogs will begin their set on halfway. David Klemmer marches past the 40 before a spread right sees Danny Fualalo tackled on the 30. Aaron Woods barges towards the middle and is taken on the 10. Kieran Foran runs it right and tries to link with his outside men but Greg Inglis shuts it down by sticking out an arm. The Bulldogs earn another set.
Souths develop an overlap on the left and spread it but Alex Johnston's pass to Braidon Burns soars over the sideline. Poor execution.
NO TRY - Hopoate grounded it quickly after fumbling the ball. Drop-out to come.
BUNKER - A soaring bomb is dropped by Hopoate and grounded by Crichton but the fullback appeared to have planted it first.
David Klemmer takes the opening hit-up off the kick-off before Raymond Faitala-Mariner is man handled by a series of Souths defenders before offloading for Michael Lichaa who earns a penalty on his own 40 after Cameron Murray attacked at the hooker's legs. Souths have survived however, despite a strong run by Raymond Faitala-Mariner nearly ending in a four-pointer. Adam Elliot now is penalised for obstructing the play the ball and Souths begin their set on their own 20.
He sends it through.
Canterbury earn another penalty for offside on the last tackle and will shoot for two.
Burgess is penalised and put on report.
Josh Morris is down after being elbowed in the neck by Sam Burgess.
Josh Morris earns a penalty now and runs 30 metres after tapping it. Dogs are 20 out. Kieran Foran goes long to Brett Morris on the last but he can't beat the tackle of Greg Inglis and Hymel Hunt.
Doueihi's kick goes soaring to the left.
All the possession finally adds up as Burns dives over out wide off a nice sweeping play.
Josh Jackson and David Klemmer make determined runs before Aaron Woods takes it past the halfway mark on the 3rd. Danny Fualalo barges to the Souths' 40 metre mark on the last before Kieran Foran bombs to Alex Johnston who catches it with relative ease. Braidon Burns and Dane Gagai work it out of their own end before a charging Sam Burgess makes his way past the 40 and towards the halfway line. Adam Doueihi kicks on the last but William Hopoate fields it. Fa'amanu Brown takes it from dummy-half and comes up with an error. This has been a terrible start to this half from the Dogs.
Greg Inglis has almost gone over but he has dropped the ball short in the tackle of Josh Jackson and Kieran Foran.
The Rabbitohs look rudderless in attack but have gained yet another set after Adam Doueihi's kick on the last was touched by Canterbury. Adam Doueihi goes short to Thomas Burgess who is tackled 5 out. They continue right and Dane Gagai almost goes through but he is taken just short of the try line. Fantastic defence by the Dogs but now Marcelo Montoya has dropped the ball. That is three errors in 6 minutes from the Dogs to open this half. They only made 1 error in the first forty and it was a major reason for why they led.
Cody Walker puts in a cross field kick on the last and Tevita Tatola places himself perfectly to take it but he drops it and smashes into the posts! The Bulldogs regain possession but Raymond Faitala-Mariner has dropped the ball. That is already more errors than the Dogs made in the whole first half.
Terrible news out of the sheds for Dogs fans with Aiden Tolman ruled out of the game with an ankle syndesmosis injury. Meanwhile, Damien Cook has dropped the ball after darting out of dummy-half, giving the Bulldogs a full set on halfway. However, Francis Tualau has now come up with an error and the Rabbitohs are back on attack.
SECOND HALF UNDERWAY!
HALF TIME - A sloppy South Sydney outfit trails Canterbury 14-6 at the break. The Bulldogs will be without Moses Mbye for the rest of the game.
Too easy for him.
Danny Fualalo takes it up off the scrum before Danny Fualalo charges over the 20. Penalty from right in front - will Kieran Foran kick it? He will! This is no gimme...
The Bulldogs have one last chance to strike before the break with Dane Gagai coming up with an error 30 out.
He nails it.
Sam Burgess almost goes through but a fantastic tackle by Raymond Faitala-Mariner denies him. He concedes the penalty for holding him down. Souths spread it left and Greg Inglis bounces off the Josh Jackson tackle to score. Controversy overshadows the try as Jackson was not given time to go back over to his side of the field after being called over by the ref.
MASSIVE PENALTY! The Rabbitohs were finding it tough getting out of their own end but they have nabbed a penalty on the fourth tackle and now have a full set 30 out... but John Sutton has dropped the ball. NO WAIT! Penalty ruled. Souths with another set! 9-3 penalty count in their favour - they must score!
Souths earn a penalty for offside and begin their set on the own 30. Neither side is looking all too threatening with Souths especially struggling to play their way back into this one. Cody Walker kicks on the last for the posts but it misses and just trickles dead.
Kieran Foran misses it from right in front! He puts it under the posts!
A terrible set by Souths ends with Adam Doueihi clearing it from his own 40 but Brett Morris takes it and makes his way past the 30 metre mark. The Rabbitohs look clueless in attack. Aaron Woods barges past the Rabbitohs' 40 on the fourth. William Hopoate goes down the left hand sideline and finds Brett Morris on the wing who then links inside for Josh Morris who has an early double!
Francis Tualau comes up with an error bringing it past halfway and accidental offside from Woods sees the Bunnies earn another penalty and march up field. Souths already have been awarded six penalties but a terrible pass by Adam Doueihi goes nowhere and it is snatched by the Dogs. The kick on the last by Kieran Foran races over the dead ball line. 7 tackle set to come. The Rabbitohs make their way into the Bulldogs' 20 but Braidon Burns drops the ball and Canterbury survive.
Sam Burgess has run through and scored but he is pulled back for an obstruction after brother Tom denied Michael Lichaa a chance to tackle the prop.
With all the momentum the Dogs have now conceded a penalty for an incorrect play the ball courtesy of Aiden Tolman. Souths have a full set 10 out and now earn another penalty. Cameron Murray straightens things up before a spread sees Angus Crichton work his way towards the posts before being tackled 10 out. Now the Rabbitohs have grabbed another full set of six for offside. Cody Walker and Adam Doueihi took the line on and looked dangerous but other than that Souths haven't offered much in attack. Greg Inglis catches the Dogs offside on the last and the warning is given.
Foran sends it through.
A penalty is now awarded and Kieran Foran points towards the posts.
Michael Lichaa splits them and races away! He is now just 20 out and looks inside for Aiden Tolman who tries to link with an outside man but it is knocked down. 6 again!
It looked certain to miss as it hooked left but Foran somehow curls it back in.
Aiden Tolman and Danny Fualalo take it to the 40 metre mark on the second for the Dogs. Aaron Woods charges past the 40 before a strong run by David Klemmer takes it past the 30. Kieran Foran runs down the short side on the 4th and is taken 10 out. Jeremy Marshall-King bombs on the last and Brett Morris bats it back for Josh Morris who dives over in the corner!
Both Moses Mbye and Robert Jennings have been taken off. Will keep you updated.
The Rabbitohs spread it left on the last and Robert Jennings flies for the corner but is taken into touch by four Canterbury defenders. Moses Mbye is down after the tackle and time is stopped.
Michael Lichaa goes himself on the 1st but is taken just shy of the line. Kieran Foran and Jeremy Marshall-King also take on the line before David Klemmer straightens things up on the fourth. The Dogs have not thrown much at the Rabbitohs and the last tackle option is shocking with the Moses Mbye kick going straight to Cameron Murray. Now Souths earn a penalty and march past halfway.
KICK OFF! Moses Mbye's kick almost goes out on the full but Alex Johnston takes it. Damien Cook darts out of dummy-half on the last and is taken just shy of halfway. The kick on the last goes to Brett Morris who takes it with ease. A great run by Raymond Faitala-Mariner takes the Dogs over halfway. Canterbury shift it right on the third and William Hopoate is tackled on the Souths' 30. The bomb on the last is taken by Cody Walker who is taken over the sideline and the Dogs get a full set 10 out.
Good afternoon and welcome to today's annual Good Friday clash between the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium. Both sides head into this game off impressive victories, however, South's 34-6 demolition of Manly was arguably the better performance. Off the back of their superior attack, I am going the Rabbitohs in a thriller by four.
