St George Illawarra made it four wins from as many games downing the Knights 30-12 in front of a packed WIN Stadium crowd.
Like last week against the Titans, the Red V started slowly and it was indeed the visitors who got on the board first, with Tautau Moga getting across for the Knights after four minutes.
The Dragons slowly clicked into gear, Tariq Sims the first to clatter over for the home team before Nene Macdonald put his side in front before the 20-minute mark following a great team play which ended with the winger dotting down in the corner.
Minutes later the Knights looked out of answers yet again as Aitken crossed for the Dragons' third, the Easter Sunday crowd in raptures as their side took an 18-6 lead. Newcastle would find their groove again before the break, Chris Heighington getting over the line to reduce the margin to just six points.
A penalty goal for Gareth Widdop pushed that gap to eight points before the break, but after the changing of ends the Red V went on with the job, a 54th minute try to a surging Leeson Ah Mau backed up not long after by Nene Macdonald's second of the afternoon.
With Macdonald's try on the hour-mark, the Dragons looked keen to kick on but errors and a lack of polish cruelled both sides' chances as the game went on - but the home fans went home happy and will be liking what they see from the side sitting first after four rounds.
Next weekend the Dragons hike up Mount Ousley Road to Kogarah where they'll host South Sydney, while the Knights are at home to Brisbane.
