Parramatta Eels won their fourth-straight contest with a comfortable 36-12 result tonight against Gold Coast Titans in front of 10.780 fans at Robina.
The Eels kicked their way to victory tonight - three of their six tries came from the boot, as the right side combination helped Waqa Blake and Marata Niukore bag late four-pointers which has given Parramatta a six-point buffer in sixth.
From kick-off, the Eels looked switched on and stretched a Titans defense which has conceded 565 points on the edges. It also brought some frantic attack which saw the first half devolve into an error fest.
When they got it right though, the Eels continued to show they are deadly from the boot. A towering bomb brought Daniel Alvaro's opener then fellow forward Ma'u gobbled up a grubber to make it 12-nil. Right after the break. Shaun Lane just strolled through the defense from a bomb to extend their lead.
Eels broke the line at will tonight, but it was late in the contest when the right-side combination of Mitchell Moses, Manu Ma'u and Waqa Blake ripped open the Titans defense. Two long range breaks allowed Blake to get his first two four-pointers as an Eel.
Marata Niukore added the sixth of the night for the Eels to put the icing on a decisive victory that has consolidated their position in sixth. September is calling for the blue-and-gold as they finish off with three favourable fixtures to prime themselves for the finals.
Tonight was another sad chapter, in the 2019 book of disappointment that is the Titans season. It confirm's the wooden spoon for the glitter strip side, as they have plenty of questions for incoming boss Justin Holbrook to answer.
There was some consolation in the tries to Brian Kelly in the first half which came from a rebound then youngster Jesse Arthars got his maiden NRL try to complete the scoreline at 36-12, which will add some slight gloss to another wide loss.
