FULL TIME - Tonga are the first second-tier team to topple Australia. They win 16-12 in front of the sea of red.

Australia have absolutely blown it! They have an overlap on the right edge and if the pass from James Tedesco is good they score (with the conversion to come) but it is at the head of Nick Cotric who drops it and Tonga should win.

Australia shift it left and Konrad Hurrell goes for the intercept but puts it down. Kangaroos with a full set to come 35 out.

Jason Taumalolo again with a great run out of trouble, bringing Tonga over the 40. Tuimoala Lolohea then drills it into touch. Australia on their own 30 with the scrum to the pack.

James Tedesco breaks through - Kangaroos 10 out! Cameron Munster holds it up as he slices through and tries to find the pass for Josh Addo-Carr but it spills forward and Tonga somehow survive despite looking almost gone.

Jason Taumalolo with a charging run and Tonga are 30 out. Tevita Pangai Junior then with the risky offload and Australia pounce. They are now just 40 out. Just under five to go.

Daly Cherry-Evans forced to kick from inside Australia's 30. Tonga with great field position now. They're not doing a whole lot with it though, that is until Addin Fonua-Blake charges up past the 40 and draws a penalty.

Konrad Hurrell with a strong run to bring Tonga over halfway on the fifth. The ball goes to the air on the last but James Tedesco has a relatively comfortable take at it. Australia finding easy metres through the middle and are 30 out. A mix-up on the last and the Kangaroos spill it.

HALF TIME - Tonga won't go away but the Australians have been more classy at capitalising on their opportunities and lead 12-6 at the break.

Cameron Munster with some fancy footwork to split Tonga and he kicks inside but there are no chasers and Tonga survive a late scare. They were looking tired.

Tonga fall apart late though and drop the ball. Australia with it on halfway and they have a chance to push further ahead.

Tonga with a relieving penalty and they have a chance to try strike late.

Tonga finally get through another strong complete set, ending with Kotoni Staggs kicking and trapping James Tedesco inside his own 10. Australia getting a roll on though and are over halfway on the last through Paul Vaughan. Kangaroos away on the left and kick inside, DCE looming but the bounce favours Tonga.

Boyd Cordner looks certain to slice over on the left edge but Ben Murdoch-Masila comes up with a massive play to strip it out backwards in a one-on-one tackle and then the Tongan forward draws a much-needed penalty.

Tonga chance their arm and run it on the last but come up with an error. Australia ball on halfway.

Australia on a roll now. Will Hopoate takes the bomb on the last under pressure but Tonga are inside their own 20 and struggling for metres.

Tonga need to watch out here. They're pinged for slowing down Payne Hass too much and Australia are just 30 out.

Tuimoala Lolohea tries to kick it into touch, it rebounds off Latrell Mitchell's boots. Mitchell pounces, offloads for Josh Addo-Carr who juggles it before regaining possession and is tackled on halfway. Held down too long and penalty is blown.

Will Hopoate, who has been impressive so far, does well to take a Daly Cherry-Evans kick on the run and start off Tonga's set close to their own 40.

Tonga show great steel to hold on as Addin Fonua-Blake snatches the ball when it comes loose off the last-tackle bomb. Still trying to use their size through the middle to power through the Kangaroos and it is their best bet at this rate. Siosiua Taukeiaho and Jason Taumalolo with strong carries to take Tonga to halfway. The ball is kicked to Josh Addo-Carr who spins it to James Tedesco, he pops an offload for JAC. Australia on the 40 and they throw it forward.

Tonga are over but the pass is forward! They find space on the right edge after the Kangaroos defenders swarm on Will Hopoate but the centre lobs it over the top to David Fusitua. Called back though. Australia had them well covered in all other plays though.
