Heavy rain falling right as the game kicks off

Great scenes as a rapturous round of applause goes up around the ground in recognition of a volunteer fire-fighter who lost his life during the recent bush-fires.

In what is a stunning revelation, the guy with the Great St-George Team banner is back to cheer on the Saints.

Tyson Frizell will have his first hit out as full-time captain of the red-v following the departure of Gareth Widdop to England during the off season. Luciano Leilua will make his Tigers debut against his old club. Both coaches have finished their departing messages, you get the feeling that this match is vital for both sides, who have been tipped by many to struggle in 2020.

We go to WIN Stadium in Wollongong for the final match of Round 1 in what is also the final NRL match that will be played in front of a crowd for the foreseeable future. There is a slight chance of rain forecast with heavy cloud coverage, the hill isn't at it's peak capacity however there is still a decent turn out. The Dragons have one late change with Josh Kerr coming into the 17 on the bench in place of Jacob Host, while for the Wests Tigers Michael Chee-Kam has also earned himself a late call up on the interchange to cover Josh Reynolds, who has been promoted to the starting halfback position to replace Luke Brooks who will be out for at least a month after picking up a calf injury at training yesterday.
