That's full-time! Thanks for tuning in, a great game to watch in the end! Hope you enjoyed it, the Sharks win!
The Bulldogs show a never give up attitude to try and muster some points, however the Sharks held on and get their hands on the footy.
A quick set from the Sharks, they only gain 32m, a Johnson kick is sent to Crichton and he's surrounded by Cronulla players.
Strong set from the Bulldogs that tailed off towards the end of it. Holland tried a chip and chase on the short side, Katoa slides to the ball to secure it on the full.
Outstanding kick from Averillo from the sideline! Took very little time to set up and nailed it.
The Bulldogs really aren't done yet! Woods almost scores, from 1m out the ball goes to Johnson and Johnson's ball for the wing is intercepted by Crichton to run 85m to score!
No try. Both Foran gathers the ball Faitala-Mariner touches it in an accidental offside position. Scrum for the Sharks. Moylan returns to the field.
The Dogs are not done! Johnson's last tackle grubber backfires, it went into the legs of Foran who gathers the ball and passes for Averillo to sprint down the sideline and score under the posts, we think. It's been reviewed by The Bunker.
Averillo makes a half break and 30m playing in the centres. Then unfortunately Adam Elliott loses the ball in the next tackle.
Moylan went off for a HIA and cleared the test. He's still on the sideline for now.
Johnson takes advantage of a strong Sharks set on fourth tackle to kick low and for the sideline once more.
From the left sideline there's not enough power on the kick and it's wide.
In his first NRL match since 2017, Goodwin gets a try! Townsend kicks from 20m out to the left wing as Goodwin had no defenders in sight.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY SHARKS. That hurts, as it came on tackle five. To'omaga gave that away.
The Bulldogs almost lost the ball through To'omaga on fourth but he holds on. Foran on the last takes no risks and finds the grass with a low kick.
Cronulla do well to make metres and win back some field position.
The Sharks hold on to Averillo and Hopoate as both almost broke away to score on the one play. Wakeham has the decision on the last to kick low and it's a substandard end to the set, possession with Cronulla.
The Sharks only get to their 22m on the last, a kick long finds the turf and bounces back towards the Sharks. The Sharks are all offside though, so great field position for the Bulldogs.
Foran takes the kick on the last and the Sharks are pinned 2m out from their line.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY BULLDOGS. On the first play Aaron Woods gives this one away.
CHALLENGE SUCCESSFUL, PENALTY BULLDOGS. Ruled to be an illegal strip.
DWZ makes his first carry after inflicting a hit on Moylan, the Sharks belt him in numbers, the ball comes free and is ruled a knock-on. The Sharks are pumped now. The Bulldogs have issued a captain's challenge.
SHOT! The Bulldogs have gone up a notch for intensity. DWZ has levelled Moylan in what will be on highlights for the rest of this season! The hit of the round!! Moylan gets up.
Wakeham is back from the sin bin.
Only 30m on the set for the Dogs, the kick finds the grass and Moylan gets hammered. Only the following play Goodwin gets hammered.
The Sharks with an offload from Woods late gets Johnson space for an attacking kick, they're still trying to test Hopoate but he's up to the task.
Andrew Fifita off and Royce Hunt makes his club debut for the Sharks.
JMK is substitued for Kerrod Holland.
The Bulldogs back within four, apologies.
That kick looked better from him, it's successful and they're only down by six now. Scoring with only 12-men on the field.
On the last Hopoate threw out to Faitala-Mariner and nothing was on. The pass comes back to the middle for Adam Elliott who puts in a grubber for Foran to score. Something from nothing, looked to easy!
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY BULLDOGS. No need for giving that away from the Sharks, a big help for the Bulldogs.
Momentum is all with the Sharks and on the last a high kick once again for Hopoate is confidently taken.
The third time he's kicked from the right side tonight and he's missed it.
Well there's a hat-trick for the young winger! Johnson's set it up with a grubber to the winger where he had wide open space to make a comfortable gather and a cool dive to score untouched.
And he's sin binned! Not for the contact he made alone, the ref is fed up of the many penalties they've given away.
Reimis Smith was dragged Dugan towards the sideline on his own and Wakeham jams his shoulder into Dugan. The referee deemed it unnecessary contact and a penalty.
Siosifa Talakai rushes out of the line for a solid hit to set the tone for the set. Just 23m on the set for the Dogs and Wakeham kicks long, Dugan goes on a 35m return of the ball. Play is stopped as contact from Wakeham on Dugan is perhaps a cheap shot.
Positive footy on the first set after points from the Sharks. More intent about them. Graham goes for a good run and gets a handy offload away. Townsend on the last tests Hopoate under the high ball and it's a great take.
About 11m in from the right sideline Johnson's got the ball inside the right post.
A double for Katoa and that's some pickup of the footy! Shaun Johnson will get a try-assist for this play, but all credit should go to Katoa for picking this fast pass up from his bootlaces on the run, in the rain!
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY SHARKS. Josh Jackson holds down for too long, giving away back-to-back six-again penalties has been a worrying trend for both teams.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY SHARKS. Ramien punches through the line and earns his side the penalty.
The Sharks rush off their line and whack DWZ deep in his own half, but he spins out of it and gains 25m. They shortly after kick long and out the back to whack Dugan.
Simple footy here and it's possible the coaches want this as the rain has come on strong over half-time. On the last Johnson's kick for the touch again.
An identical set for the Bulldogs but they only manage 35m for the set. Wakeham's kick goes over the sideline 17m out.
55m on the set for the Sharks and Johnson's put in a kick that dribbles out over the sideline for a 10m scrum. Odd kick to begin the half.
We're back underway and the Bulldogs get first use of the footy.
That's half-time and the score reflects the contest accurately. The rain could be factor for the rest of the match which probably gives an advantage for the Dogs. Stay tuned for the second half.
Only 28m on the Bulldogs set and they chose to run on the last. They go from the right side to the left sideline, Averillo tries a late kick and misses it all together.
The rain is coming on strong now, on tackle three Townsend kicks long but it's taken hit the back of a Bulldogs player. Then on the last a high ball goes out to Crichton and it's another brilliant take.
On the last JMK from 15m out passes left and Elliott's pass for Foran is late and difficult to grab. It's a knock-on.
Sorry folks, a few minutes of technical difficulties there but we're back. Bulldogs on the attack.
Nikora's held down the Bulldogs for too long. He's sin binned for the Sharks committing too many penalties.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY BULLDOGS. Andrew Fifita gives this one away for being too slow.
The Sharks roll up and test Hopoate under a high ball on the last, he takes it well.
Elliott with his best hit-up of the night but come the last Wakeham succumbs to the pressure and has to pass to Smith for the last tackle kick. It only goes 10m and into the hands of the Sharks, bad end of set for the Dogs.
Brailey with an inspired run from dummy-half almost catches the Bulldogs out, gains about 15m. Moylan takes the tackle five kick and it's dribble out over the sideline.
53m on the first set after points, Moylan receives the ball inside his 20m and is tackled.
With his first conversion kick in the NRL, Averillo's kick looks a bit shaky but it's straight over from 15m right of the posts.
That's a good looking play from the Bulldogs! Wakeham runs at the line and turns away to give a ball for Hopoate to slip through the line and score his first try of the season.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY X2. The Sharks are showing some cracks now, but can Canterbury take advantage?
The Bulldogs look out of answers as they got to the last. A simple hit-up for the Bulldogs and an offload is touched by the Sharks and it's six more.
Hopoate has taken a tough shot and play is stopped for him to get attention from the trainer. He took the line on and passed late and received a legal strong hit. He's back up and looks set to play on.
Woods comes up with another offload and it's a linebreak for Townsend. He's in the backfield, draws the fullback, he had to slow down to wait for a support player to pass to which is enough time for JMK to make an intercept.
Napa and Sue with offloads help the Dogs to 20+ metres on the fourth tackle to get them over halfway and the Sharks lose their field position.
Woods gets an offload away that opens things up for Rudolf and for Townsend to get an easy kick that pulls up a few metres short of the goal-line, excellent play.
The Dogs march up the field and a contest of the high ball on the last to their right wing is knocked on by Watene-Zelezniak.
The Sharks struggle for metres there, so on the last the playmakers elect to run the ball out to Dugan at left centre and he gets a kick away.
Jake Averillo splits two players and Moylan has to step up to prevent the winger from scoring under the posts. On the last they can't score but it's not all bad as the changeover has the Sharks deep in their half.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY BULLDOGS. The discipline is getting worse here, the Sharks have let the Bulldogs back in the contest.
PENALTY BULLDOGS. The Sharks don't pack the scrum in time, that's terrible from them.
Johnson with direct running with a purpose and his short cutout pass from Ramien is too much for the centre to keep. Ramien goes very close to or scores if he holds that ball.
Moylan and Johnson looked unorganised on their best opportunity to score in that set. Just a lot of stepping thin air and sideways running. The set is saved by Townsend on the last to force a goal-line dropout with his short kick.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY SHARKS. That's the third six-again they've received in the first 15 minutes. Poor from the Dogs, not much pressure on there.
The Bulldogs aren't able to get out of their own half and Wakeham's forced to kick high and long under pressure.
The Sharks kicking early and turning Hopoate around is a major part of the game plan for the Sharks and Townsend's done it this time.
From the right touchline that's a majestic kick straight between the posts.
That's the 11th career try for Katoa in 22 NRL games. Might be his best solo move ever.
WOW! Sione Katoa with a spectacular effort to score what might be a try. He's done what can only be described as a rainbow jump to avoid the defender and score in the corner. It's being review by The Bunker. Outstanding!
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY. The Sharks get this one, and it means the Dogs have to defend a full set mostly on their line.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY. A good short-pass play between the Bulldogs forwards creates the six more, but they turn the ball over shortly after the penalty.
Johnson's focused to start this match. On the fourth tackle he's placed a kick perfectly and they trap Hopoate a metre out from the goal line.
Only 25m on a full set for the Bulldogs this time, danger signs for them.
Cronulla has a role on through the middle. Graham and Woods carrying defenders. Johnson goes high on the last and Crichton makes a great mid-air catch.
Only 35m on the set for the Dogs there and a long kick sees the Sharks return to the 20m line.
Too risky of a play from Moylan on the left trying to link up with his centre and winger, he delivered a late pass that's dropped and the Bulldogs have it.
Nice touch from Shaun Johnson on the restart of play as he's delivered a grubber from 20m out and Hopoate is trapped in-goal. Goal-line dropout coming up.
The Sharks get all the way up the field and on the last Wade Graham jumps in to dummy-half and comes up centimetres short. The Bunker is having a look at it, ruled no try, but Graham looked to admit he hadn't scored.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY X2. On back-to-back tackles the Bulldogs have given away these penalties.
Wakeham involved early for the Bulldogs attack on plays four and five. Looked confident. Marshall-King makes a dart from close range on the last and comes up short. Good option taken though.
SIX-AGAIN PENALTY. After a few plays and up to halfway the Bulldogs have an extra set to play with.
That's an unforced error from Hamlin-Uele in the tackle, on his first NRL start.
One out running and a kick on fourth from the Dogs that goes to Matt Moylan on his return.
Kickoff to the Bulldogs, here we go!
Hello and welcome to tonight's live update of the Sharks and Bulldogs from Bankwest Stadium. Kickoff between 14th v 15th on the ladder is set for 6:30pm. If Cronulla can get the win as expected, they could rise as high as 10th on the ladder to end the round. Fingers crossed we see some quality footy!
