Match Overview

The Titans opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Tanah Boyd put in a grubber, the Tigers defenders fall over like skittles and Philip Sami scored in the corner. Jamal Fogarty converted.

On the first tackle from the kick-off AJ Brimson made a break from his own line, gets to halfway and passes to Tyrone Peachey who raced 45 metres to score. Fogarty converted from in front.

A minute later, David Fifita spins out of a tackle on halfway, passed to Brian Kelly who raced away to score. Fogarty added the extras and the Titans lead 18-0 after 14 minutes.

The Tigers finally got on the board in the 20th minute with a nice play off the back of a scrum, which ended with Joey Leilua running a strong straight line, to barge over and score a try. Adam Doueihi converted the try.

The Tigers continued the fightback a few minutes later when Jake Simpkin barged over from dummy half, and just got the ball down for a try. Doueihi added the conversion to get the Tigers within 6 points of the Cowboys.

The Titans took just two minutes to reply, when Anthony Don casually caught a bomb, despite being surrounded by Tigers defenders. Don then got an offload over the top to Beau Fermor who was unmarked on the wing and he scored in the corner. Fogarty nailed the sideline conversion to give the Titans a 24-12 lead at halftime.

Gold Coast continued the scoring in the second half when Philip Sami scored in the left corner after a great breakaway against the run of play in the previous tackle.

In the 65th minute Tanah Boyd scored an opportunistic try after the ball got soccered around several times in the lead up. Fogarty converted.

Then along came David Nofoaluma. In the space of 3 minutes the Tigers winger bagged two tries to keep the game alive. In the 69th minute James Tamou forced a knock on and then earnt his side a penalty, Nofoaluma took a quick tap 20m from the Cowboys line and scored under the posts. Doueihi converted.

The Tigers were on the attack again just 2 minutes later where Doueihi held up a lovely long ball to Nofoaluma who scored in the corner. Doueihi again converted from out wide, to reduce the Tigers deficit to 12 points.

With just a minute left, Adam Doueihi crossed for a well-deserved try, however it was too little too late as the Titans won 36-28.

Sami was safe as a house at the back, his kick returns made big metres and he bagged a pair of good tries.
