Round 19 - CommBank Stadium, Parramatta / Burramattagal - Crowd: 11726

Match Overview

Parramatta might as well have been home to a pencil factory because there were plenty of points on show at Commbank Stadium following the Bulldogs 36-26 victory over the Gold Coast Titans.

After opening the scoring with a penalty goal, the Bulldogs had dominance over the opening stages of the contest as Josh Addo-Carr scored his first of the afternoon as he connected with Matt Burton after the Dogs number six broke through a gap in the defence.

The Titans hit back soon after stopping the momentum when Toby Sexton chased through an Aaron Booth kick to score under the posts.

Despite the temporary halt in momentum, the Bulldogs went on a point scoring spree starting with Jeremy Marshall-King burrowing over from dummy half under the sticks and then Josh Addo-Carr showed his injury issues from last week were over as he ran 95m to take an intercept and score.

Matt Burton then added his name to the try scorers list on the half-hour mark after some great work from Jacob Kiraz to find space down the touchline before slinging the ball back infield and on the next play Burton was able to get over.

The Titans grabbed the final points of the first half when David Fifita chased through a kick to score and close the gap to 26-10 at the half-time interval.

Josh Addo-Carr started the second half the same way he did the first half with an intercept that saw the fox reading the play perfectly and taking a grab and racing away 80m to score and push the lead back to 16 points following Burton's conversion.

Momentum then shifted to the Titans as they were able to score two quick tries back-to-back with Phillip Sami firstly chasing through a grubber kick from Toby Sexton before Patrick Herbert outjumped the Bulldogs defence to take a Tanah Boyd bomb to score.

A selfless Josh Addo-Carr set up the second for Matt Burton who scored after the Bulldogs spread the ball to their lethal left and the Fox found himself in space and easily could've had a fourth but instead put it to Burton to score his second of the afternoon.

Regathering the ball from the short kick-off the Titans took advantage of the field position with Jojo Fifita scored in the corner giving the Gold Coast plenty of hope of a comeback.

Strangely for a game that didn't lack points, the last thirteen minutes became a mini-drought with both sides able to cross the line despite both sides going very close at times.

Next weekend, the Bulldogs have a trip to Newcastle for a Sunday afternoon battle against the Knights while the Titans head back to the Gold Coast for a clash with the Raiders.
