Round 7 - GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal - Crowd: 13817

Match Overview

The Canberra Raiders have come out victorious against the St George Illawarra Dragons by 20 points to 14 on Sunday afternoon at GIO Stadium.

Neither side troubled the scorers for much of the second half - Tautau Moga finally getting the Dragons first points just a minute from the break. To their credit, both teams displayed solid defence throughout but the attack was certainly lacking. Moga's try was unconverted for a 4-0 lead at the break for the visitors.

After the break, it was the Raiders who were first to get on the scoreboard with a try by Sebastian Kris in the 45th minute, followed by a successful conversion from Jarrod Croker.

They added a penalty goal soon after, before a sin bin for Nick Cotric delivered a try to Mathew Feagai, levelling scores in the 53rd minute.

Canberra didn't back down though, and responded with tries from Matthew Timoko and Hudson Young in the 62nd and 72nd minutes respectively, both converted by Croker.

Moga scored his second try for the Dragons in the 77th minute via an intercept, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.

The crowd of 13,817 was treated to an exciting and closely contested match, with both teams putting in a strong effort. However, it was the Raiders who were able to come out on top, with a final score of 20-14.

The Raiders will be looking to build on this win - their third of the season - in the coming rounds, while the Dragons will be looking to bounce back from this loss on ANZAC Day when they face the Roosters.
