A mixed night from the boot for Hynes and from the sideline he can't get it.
The Sharks spread it right and Sione Katoa decides to take them on in the corner and scores!
Nothing comes of that set for Cronulla. But the Sharks could have one final chance to score here as the Tigers spill it on what should have been their final set of the night. Fonua Pole the man who drops it, 20 out from the line.
And now the Tigers put it down, some great scrambling defence from Cronulla given the circumstances.
A penalty against the run of play as Sione Katoa pushes John Bateman after the tackle. Tigers with a full set 20 out.
Hynes misses it.
They split them again! Blayke Brailey has done this a few times all game and he goes through the middle, beating Tallyn Da Silva and then finds Hynes in support.
Flat to Teig Wilton on the last but he is held up.
Tigers go short off the restart and it doesn't go 10.
Hynes makes it 28-12.
Hynes cuts it out to Talakai who again steamrolls over, that's game over.
Will Smith sends his kick out on the full.
A terrible set from the Tigers that offered nothing. Sharks have it back.
No further action.
Tallyn Da Silva intercepts a pass, Siosifa Talakai then strips him of the ball. Could this be grounds for a sin bin since he had made a linebreak?
Nicho Hynes goes to the air for Ronaldo Mulitalo. He looked to be bumped off the ball by Starford To'a but no penalty as the Tigers come down with it.
A tipping tackle from Starford To'a on Ronaldo Mulitalo and the Sharks will march up the field with a chance to really push this lead out.
Hynes hits the post.
The try is locked in! Just that kind of night for the Tigers.
Nicho Hynes to the air and Jesse Ramien comes down with it. Will the Bunker look at this one too?
Try comes off the board... Tommy Talau snatches the Brandon Wakeham kick but he doesn't have control of it as it contacts Nicho Hynes' arm. Knock on.
We may be coming back though...
Nicho Hynes' pass on the last is wayward and hits the ground being before scooped up by the Tigers and now the Sharks concede a penalty.
Brandon Wakeham spots something! He kicks on the third towards the corner - Asu Kepaoa is there but the bounce just beats him.
A pretty bland set from the Tigers that didn't threaten much but Brandon Wakeham does well to build pressure with a forced dropout.
Potential momentum swing back in the Tigers' favour? Sione Katoa drops it and now the Tigers have a full set close to Cronulla's line.
Hynes extends the lead.
The Sharks make the Tigers pay eventually as they go right. A lovely play with runners in motion ends with Katoa stepping back inside.
Nicho Hynes takes it right up to the line and plays it short for Briton Nikora who is swarmed on and just held up by Tigers players. Blayke Brailey with a clever kick for the in-goal area and Wade Graham streams through but Jahream Bula saves the day and punches it dead. Dropout coming.
Shawn Blore holds on too long. Six again, Sharks 10 out.
Not what the Tigers need as Isaiah Papali'i drops the ball... Sharks get possession 20 out.
Nicho Hynes kicks it high on the last, no Tigers are really going for it and Briton Nikora has a free run at the ball but puts it down. Possible try begging but there were a few defenders around him.
Back underway!
Level at halftime!
Alex Seyfarth with a sneaky short ball to Shawn Blore who goes right through them!
Brandon Wakeham goes to the air but Ronaldo Mulitalo spills it. Tigers with a full set and 90 seconds left.
Tommy Talau strips the ball off Jesse Ramien after a few tacklers peel off. Tigers 40 out now.
Tigers 40 out on the last and they run it down the right edge as Starford To'a drops the ball.
Briton Nikora now drops the ball on the last tackle as the Sharks meekly hand it over 20 out.
Brandon Wakeham puts in a kick on the fourth, it takes a tricky bounce with Starford To'a chasing. He desperately goes after the ball and bats it back into the field of play but his foot is dead so even if Junior Tupou grounds it, that is no try. Close call though and great to see that kind of effort from the Tigers.
Now a penalty for the Tigers... could they level this up at halftime?
The try was initially given but later overturned, penalty Tigers.
Both sides trade sets... nothing much going on until... Nicho Hynes to the air and Junior Tupou bobbles it. Ronaldo Mulitalo scoops it up and links with Hynes who scores. Jesse Ramien though appeared to push Tommy Talau into Tupou and this should be a penalty.
Wakeham slots it/
A lovely cut-out pass from fill-in five-eighth Will Smith as Nicho Hynes shoots out in defence and Talau reaches out to score.
BREAKING: The Tigers have scored a point.
Now a penalty. Six tackles to go for the Tigers, 10 out.
Jack Williams pinged for a ruck infringement and it is six again for the Tigers, who are now 30 out.
Off the post and IN.
That was way too easy as the Sharks go left and Nicho Hynes simply plays it short to Talakai who steamrolls Starford To'a.
Sharks tap.
Nicho Hynes to the air for Asu Kepaoa - it's a floater and he drops it. Brandon Wakeham then fields it in an offside position. Penalty.
The Tigers go right and Starford To'a breaks a few tackles and then flicks an offload but it goes to Cronulla. William Kennedy reaches out to snatch it. That was the third tackle.
Nicho Hynes aims for the 40-20 on the 3rd but it pulls up short. Jahream Bula has it and a nice kick return takes the ball up to the Tigers' 30.
Nicho Hynes with the kick on the fourth and it goes into touch five metres out... it looks to have scraped Jahream Bula in the process but the Tigers fullback was already out, so the Tigers have it back.
Hynes pushes it out to the right.
Nice shape out on the right edge for the Sharks as William Kennedy holds it up and passes to Jesse Ramien, who has the defence right in front of him and he shovels a pass to the ground for Sione Katoa. The winger then barges over... is it a double movement? No, try confirmed!
John Bateman with a poor pass to Jahream Bula who was not in position and puts it down and the Sharks are on the attack right away as they toe it ahead but Matt Moylan can't pick it up. Still Sharks ball though and you'd have to back them in to score here. They pack the scrum on halfway.
Sharks on the board first.
The Tigers just conceded 74 points last week, not sure they really have the defensive reputation to warrant being conservative here.
Blayke Brailey short to Teig Wilton on the last and the Tigers look to have survived, but a high shot and the Sharks take the two... right.
Blayke Brailey spots space through the middle and William Kennedy is in support but the hooker doesn't see him. Concerning signs nonetheless for the Tigers. Sharks 20 out on the last after a Cameron McInnes run. Nicho Hynes to the air for Ronaldo Mulitalo and Asu Kepaoa has a clean catch at it. Tigers survive again... but only a matter of time it seems before they open up.
Both sides trading regulation sets in what has been a relatively even opening.
Brandon Wakeham with the third-tackle kick and John Bateman is chasing with William Kennedy in cover. Execution off as it trickles into touch 10 out, but like the thought and creativity there in attack.
Briton Nikora with a late offload and the Sharks push it left quickly, from Matt Moylan to Siosifa Talakai who is wrapped up 30 out. Now to the air but the kick from Moylan is too deep. Seven-tackle set Tigers.
A solid set from the Tigers in response as they trap William Kennedy on his 20 to kick off Cronulla's next set.
Nicho Hynes goes high to Ronaldo Mulitalo on the last but he drops it. Tigers survive their first assignment in defence.
First penalty of the night as Stefano Utoikamanu collects William Kennedy high off a kick return.
We are underway! Sharks get first use of it.
Kick off at CommBank Stadium is just under five minutes away.
Don't expect a 74-0 scoreline here. I'd say this will be similar to Cronulla's game against the Dragons last week - a relatively slow start, maybe even an opening try for the Tigers - before the Sharks kick on just before the second half and keep going in the second 40. Look for a big Sharks win, but maybe by around 24-30 instead of 50+.
Laurie is out with a quad injury.
In team news, Daine Laurie drops out with Will Smith the new name at five-eighth.
It shapes as a David and Goliath contest, with the Sharks coming off a 52-16 shellacking of the Dragons while the Tigers went down 74-0 to the Cowboys.
Good evening and welcome to tonight's live update of the Tigers and Sharks clash to kick off Round 19.
