Round 20 - Belmore Sports Ground, Belmore / Bidjigal - Crowd: 17103

Match Overview

On an afternoon that was meant to feature Josh Reynolds as the main event, instead itt was the Broncos Adam Reynolds who starred and will dominate headlines.

The Broncos overcame the absence of three Origin props, and the suspended Reece Walsh, to record a comfortable 44-24 win at Belmore Sports Stadium.

The controversial sin bin of Selwyn Cobbo will dominate discussion in the coming hours and days however it should be the man of the match performance from Adam Reynolds that deserves to be talked about.

Reynolds crossed for a try, assisted two and had a hand in a handful of others. He was the difference on the day, especially after the Dogs lost Toby Sexton to a head injury right on half time.

Prior to the break, the game was super competitive and entertaining. It was raining points and saw the Broncos lead 22-18 as the siren sounded.

The Broncos overcame eight minutes sans their Origin winger in Cobbo, even crossing for a try of their own, to pull away late.

Herbie Farnworth's last minute try arguably put the final result a little beyond the true indication of the game but ultimately the Broncos were far too good.

With a Friday night blockbuster ahead of them, the Broncos attention turns to the MRC report to see if Cobbo will face a charge.

The Bulldogs, while brave, fell off late. You can absolutely question how the game would have ended up should Sexton have not been ruled out but it's back to the drawing board for the Doggies.

3. Adam Reynolds

Was in everything! Best player on the park by some margin.

2. Tristan Sailor

Was quiet early on but brilliant in the second half. Two try assists helped cover for the suspended Reece Walsh.

1. Brendan Piakura

A career best game for the rapidly rising Piakura. Crossed for a try, ran for 119 metres and tackled all day.
