NZ couldn't defend the error. A quite simple scrum play saw Upton fool the defence as the outside defenders were more interested in Jess Sergis. Upton collected her second and the Jillaroos got into the break up by two scores.
Aussies will get it back... clever kick from Brigginshaw which was spilled by Nicholls. Fortunately, she recovers but for how long can they hang on!

New Zealand made the Jillaroos pay for the poor mistake down their own end. Raecene Mcgregor delivered a brilliant crossfield kick and the 2023 NRLW Rookie of the Year Annessa Biddle crosses for the Kiwi Ferns.

The Jillaroos caused problems in and around the ruck. Ali Brigginshaw saw the gaps in the ruck and went through, she linked up with test debutant Tamika Upton to cross in her maiden international appearance.
Sergis put it down - Australia created opportunity with Tamika Upton causing problems down the right but the pass was heavy to Jessica Sergisand she puts it down.

The Pacific Championship gets underway tonight with Australia taking on New Zealand. It's an exciting way to see the best in action after the overwhelming success of the NRLW season. Looking at both sides, there is minimal changes. NZ are 1-17, Australia drop Shaylee Bent to the bench with Lauren Brown coming into the side.
