Round 10 - Allianz Stadium, Moore Park / Gadigal - Crowd: 16517

Match Overview

An opening 15 minutes of pure dominance from the Roosters set Allianz Stadium alight as they took an important 38-18 win over the injury hit New Zealand Warriors in front of 16,000 fans.

The home side opened the scoring inside four minutes when too easy for Joey Manu to draw in the defence and put Dom Young in for his first of the afternoon. The second try for the Tricolours was just as easy as Dom Young continued his early dominance over the game as he made big metres before the opportunity opened up for Angus Crichton to go over.

Not having the ball didn't help the Warriors and in the rare time they actually did get the ball an error put them on the back foot as straight from the scrum the Roosters again went right and Dom Young went over in the corner again with just pure ease as the Warriors left were no match.

If it wasn't Dom Young doing the damage then it was Angus Crichton in the first fifteen minutes as it was his turn to pick up a second try as Luke Keary drew in the defence and Crichton was able to beat the Warriors and get to the ball first. Sam Walker converted for a 22-0 lead inside 15 minutes.

Both sides had efforts chalked off by the bunker with Shaun Johnson having an effort knocked back for an obstruction and Angus Crichton denied a hattrick with a knock-on in the lead up from the Joseph Suaalii.

The Roosters turned on the special football again inside the first five minutes of the half as Dom Young ran 60m up the field before being caught by DWZ before in the next play, Sam Walker kicked 40m across field with Daniel Tupou unmarked on the other side of the field to score.

Despite being hampered significantly by injury, Shaun Johnson showed why he is one of the most talented players in the NRL with a beautiful lofted pass out to Ed Kosi to score in the corner.

It wasn't long before the Roosters negated the Warriors effort as they scored again through James Tedesco as the home side were able to cut through the middle again.

Discipline went out the window for the Roosters as the Warriors were able to hit back twice in quick succession with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad going over from close range before a big run from Addin Fonua-Blake charging at the line to get over.

Roosters put a seal on the win as Sam Walker was able to combine with Luke Keary though probably not intended as his kick was lost by the Warriors and Walker cleaned it up to score and convert to seal the 38-18 win.

Next weekend, the Roosters take on Cronulla Sharks on Saturday at Magic Round whilst the Warriors hit by more injuries take on the Panthers next Sunday.
